Inertia gallery
An endless strip of shipped work that follows a drag with weight, keeps going when thrown, and turns each frame slightly on its axis in proportion to speed.
Where it earns its place
A portfolio or press strip that invites handling: work pages, product screenshots, a wall of launches under a hero.
What we changed
- Vertical wheel now passes through to the page; only horizontal swipes move the strip. The original swallowed every wheel event over it.
- Drag is one to one with a real throw measured from release speed, instead of a 3x multiplier; a pointer held still before release does not throw.
- The speed turn is capped at 16 degrees rather than 85, so it reads as motion rather than a flip, and it is off entirely under reduced motion.
- Added arrow keys that snap to the next card, and a frame loop that parks itself when the strip settles.
- Kept the insight: a zero-dependency wrap-around track where the position chases its target with frame-rate independent smoothing, which is where the weight comes from.
