Slosh gauge
A liquid level that chases its value with mass: it rocks, leans into the direction it is moving, and knocks off the lid when it reaches the top.
Where it earns its place
Client portals and dashboards where one bounded figure should feel physical: build progress, a performance score, a quota used.
What we changed
- Kept the original's core: a damped spring integrated in fixed substeps, surface tilt driven by velocity, a lid bounce, and a loop that parks itself when the liquid is still.
- Kept the readout drawn twice, once inside the liquid's clip, so the figure inverts exactly where the liquid covers it.
- Replaced the drag-to-set slider with a phase list (radio group with arrow keys): a real metric should not be draggable, so the control picks the data and the gauge stays a meter.
- Reduced motion sets the level instantly instead of running a critically damped spring, and pauses the auto-advance.
- Ticks sit on the seven real process phases, from Strategy to Launch, instead of an arbitrary quarter grid.
