Key phrases in a block of copy get a champagne marker stroke drawn under them as each one scrolls into view.

Where it earns its place

Positioning copy, pricing notes or a FAQ answer, where two or three phrases carry the argument and should read as underlined by an editor.

The mark is a low-alpha band in the lower 40% of the line instead of a solid block, so the text keeps full contrast.
Triggers from its own scroll container, and only once the phrase sits fully inside the upper three quarters of it, so the stroke is drawn where you are reading.
Uses a fixed 0.8s ease-in-out draw rather than a spring on background size, so every mark has the same hand.
Dropped the four directions and the hover and ref triggers; the grid card draws its marks in sequence, and reduced motion shows them already drawn.
Kept the original's technique: background-size animated on an inline span with box-decoration-break clone, so wrapped phrases mark line by line.
