A plain list of links that leans toward the pointer: nearby rows brighten, slide and lengthen their marker on a smooth falloff.
Where it earns its place
Long indexes that need to feel alive without decoration: a lab or blog index, documentation sidebars, a table of contents.
What we changed
- At rest the list keeps a soft bend around the current page, so the idea shows before anyone points and leaving the list never flattens it.
- Rows are real buttons with aria-current, arrow, Home and End keys, and keyboard focus lights the list exactly as a pointer would.
- Reduced motion drops the slide and keeps only the instant colour change.
- Kept the original's engine: one frame loop easing a single effect value per row (a CSS custom property) that colour, shift and marker all read from, and it parks when settled.
- Rewritten from scratch in the studio palette with fewer knobs: radius, shift and easing are fixed and explained.
