Where it earns its place

A closing call to action or footer line, where one piece of type should respond to the visitor without any decoration added to it.

What we changed

• Letter centres are measured once from an invisible copy at rest weight, instead of reading every letter's bounding box each frame while the letters reflow.
• Weights ease toward their target at a fixed rate per frame, so a fast sweep leaves a short wake instead of a hard edge.
• The radius is set in ems of the line's own size, and the loop writes font-weight straight to the DOM with no React renders.
• Kept only a gaussian falloff; added a phantom sweep until the first real pointer, and reduced motion leaves the line at its rest weight.
• Kept the original's idea: per-letter interpolation on a variable axis, typography responding rather than an effect layered on top.
