Where it earns its place

Rails, carousels and media captions that need an edge or a legible text band without a hard fade: work indexes, product galleries, video overlays.

What we changed

• Kept the technique that makes it real: stacked backdrop-filter layers, each masked to its own overlapping band, so sharpness falls off instead of a sharp image being faded into a blurred one.
• Blur radii now double from layer to layer (0.75px up to 24px) instead of rising in equal steps, and the original's first, zero-blur layer is gone; the eye reads blur logarithmically, so the ramp looks even.
• Added a tint that deepens with the blur, so the edge settles into the stage colour instead of turning grey.
• Used it twice in one scene, as the rail's edge and as each card's caption band, over the studio's case-study frames and service stills.
• The rail scrolls natively with snap and drags with a mouse, without capturing the wheel; the grid card drifts the rail under the edge so the blur is visibly live.
